Pharmacies are located in every shopping area, even in the small rural villages. Drugs are cheap and generally reliable - there are few cases of counterfeit drugs being sold these days. All urban centres will have at least one pharmacy you can rely on, and most pharmacists speak a reasonable level of English, although in the smaller villages you may need to speak some Thai to make yourself understood. Boots, Siam Drug and Drugcare are international standard pharmacies able to dispense prescription drugs. All of their staff speak English. They also provide reliable advice on minor ailments and stock a wide range of local and imported over-the-counter medicines, as well as the common brand-name vitamin supplements and natural health products. The supermarkets Tesco Lotus and Carrefour have their own in-house pharmacies that can also be relied upon, but you may need to speak a little Thai.
