Central Thailand contains an amazing variety of geographical and economic features. The classic rice paddy scenery of Ang Thong, Ayudhaya and Lop Buri, the beautiful mountains bordering Myanmar in Kanchanaburi, the industrial and port provinces of Samut Sakhon and Samut Songkhram, and the palm fringed beaches of Prachuap Khiri Khan, all within close proximity to Bangkok, make central Thailand quite popular for those expatriates who wish to live the quieter life away from the cities whilst being close to the facilities that the capital has to offer.
